I've been experimenting with film for a few months now and I am a hopeless  addict. There's something so satisfying and romantic about the tangible process of analog. It feels like a kind of alchemy that you can actually capture a slice of time in silver. The negative is a physical remnant of the moment and not just ones and zeros. When I use my digital now, I feel like I'm being unfaithful.

I'm still reeling from my first Daily Deviation on resistance. It was an amazing, albeit somewhat overwhelming, surprise. I can't even begin to thank everyone who favourited individually although I would like to. So I'm doing it here. And also to all the folks who added me to their watch, Thank you!! It's been so inspiring. You all have got me fired up, so thank you again! Woot!

So I'm not even ankle-deep into the 365 project I started (2 weeks in). More like dipping a toe in considering I have 50 weeks left to go. It's been hit and miss in my book. I've only been posting select ones here on dA and the rest are on my flickr page. I'm an unlikely candidate for a self-portrait project, considering I don't particularly love my own mug but my goal is to grow as an artist and to improve so I'm going to keep at it (and hopefully not eat my words..) It's been a challenge. Every day I'm terrified that I will run out of ideas and I find myself feeling a little exhausted spiritually. The notion that every photograph takes a piece of your soul is starting to feel like it has some truth to it. Anyone else currently undertaking this project or already completed one that can offer some advice or words of wisdom?

I went into winter pretty positively. The light/sky this time of year is beautiful but I've hit the Jan/Feb rough patch again. Part of it has to do with the semester break. A month off should be awesome but I've fallen into a vortex of dreariness. I haven't touched my camera in weeks. I'm trying to turn it around. Once you're in, it's hard to dig yourself out again. Spring needs to get here already.
